Scratch Programming is a block-based programming software developed by MIT as a platform for kids to learn the basics of programming. Once kids have learned Scratch as a platform, learning other programming languages such as Python, Java, Javascript, etc. becomes much easier. Kids who take this class will learn all the blocks in scratch and learn how to make their own programs and projects. Students will also receive homework after each session with practice problems to work on what they learned that day.
We will cover this material at a pace at which the student feels comfortable. Understanding Scratch and these programming concepts require some thinking and 3-4th grade math skills, and a basic problem-solving mindset. Because of this, we recommend this course to anyone who has no programming experience, preferably in grades 2-6.
